이 책은 정현우 시인의 『검은 기적』의 시편 20편을 번역한 영문 시집이다. 정현우 시인의 이번 시집은 가장 낮은 자리에서 오래 기억하는 시인의 시선으로 사랑하는 어머니의 부재를 통과하며 남은 빛과 형상의 세계를 더듬는다. 오이 비누, 석류, 가지처럼 몸에 밴 사물의 기억들은 슬픔과 회복이 동시에 스며드는 감각의 장면들로 다시 선다. 로즈빌이라는 공간에서 빛이 스쳐간 자리는 다른 방식의 생명과 연결의 실밥으로 되살아난다. 끝내 지워지지 않는 이야기의 첫 문장을 향해 나아가는 이 시집은 잃음 이후에도 계속 움직이는 마음의 증류된 빛을 보여준다.

This book is an English collection of twenty poems translated from Jeong Hyun-woo’s 『검은 기적』. In this volume, the poet traces the world of lingering light and shifting forms as he passes through the absence of his beloved mother, remembering from the lowest and most enduring place of the heart. Memories bound to the body—like cucumber soap, pomegranates, and branches—reappear as sensory scenes where sorrow and recovery seep into one another. In the space called Roseville, the places where light once brushed past are reborn as threads of connection and new forms of life. Moving toward the first sentence of a story that will never be erased, this collection reveals the distilled light of a heart that continues on even after loss.

저자 : 정현우
1986년 경기 평택에서 태어나 2015년 『조선일보』로 등단했다. 시집 『나는 천사에게 말을 배웠지』『소멸하는 밤』이 있고, 〈동주문학상〉을 수상했다. 영문 시집 『Dark Miracle』이 있다.

Jung Hyunwoo was born in Pyeongtaek in 1986. He debuted as a poet in 2015 with a publication in The Chosun Daily. His poetry collections include I Learned to Speak from Angels and Perishing Night. He received the Dongju Literature Award.
